It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here! I’ve missed you Tumblr!
I wanted to write up a breakdown of my Reading Challenge so far, I meant to do it at the halfway point but I was caught up with wedding stuff; I just finished book number 64 out of 100 so let’s see my stats so far!
Graphic Novels: 6
Completed Series: 7
Unfinished Series: 11
The books that have stood out for me this year are the Vampire Academy series and the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead, those were amazing books, they pulled me right in and I got so obsessed and invested in the story; I’ll definitely be picking those up again! And of course I’ll be looking into her other series!
The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning was an instant favorite of mine, even though it took a few months to get around to buying the second installment; it was so amazing that I had to immediately re read the whole series right after finishing it the first time. And it’s still something I will continue to go back to, the same with the two series I mentioned before, they’re that good.
I also adored the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa, I haven’t started the follow up series yet but the Iron Fey was so good, I made sure to have the entire series at the same time so I could start the next book right away without having to wait.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone was another amazing one that I can’t get enough of, and the worst part is that the second book, Days of Blood and Starlight, is still in hardcover…I own the first one in paperback, can you imagine what that would look like on my shelves?! Anyway, this book was like nothing I have ever read before, it was beautiful and wonderful and terrifying.
Since my obsession with Georgina is over (for the moment, I may have to dive back in there soon) I can go back to obsessing over Jack and Schuyler in Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods series. Misguided Angel didn’t have very much of the two of them in it, so I’m very anxious to read the rest of the series.
Something I’m very happy about is that I’ve finished some series that have been sitting on my shelf for far too long, obviously I have more that still need to be read but I’m happy that I finally got to these: The Symphony of Ages by Elizabeth Haydon, this took me a few years to finish, I had finally gotten my hands on the (supposed) last book in the series, The Assassin King, but it got pushed to the end of my to read list because newer, shinier books demanded to be read first. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the experience I was hoping it would be, I don’t know if it was the fact that it had been so long since I had been in that world, or the fact that I started it a month before my wedding so I wasn’t exactly giving it my full attention, but it just wasn’t as good as the others in the series, and it was a bit of a let down. Plus I found out while reading it that the book was going to be the start of a new trilogy, so it didn’t even have a proper ending! What the hell!
The other series I finally finished was The Doctrine of Labyrinths by Sarah Monette, this one also had a bit of a lackluster ending to what was a great series, but that feeling could also have been due to the fact that there was a large gap in between reading the third and the fourth.
The last series that I’m going to mention is The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, I love love love that series! I was hooked right away, and then found out that there’s still another book to be written! I just dove into another series so I could drown my sorrows and I try not to think of it too much.
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed my post, whoever still reads my stuff that is!
